Biography

Louise Markus MP and family

After finishing my studies, I moved to greater western Sydney to start fulltime work as a Social Worker for what is now known as Centrelink. As an Area Welfare Co-ordinator, my work took me from Parramatta to the Blue Mountains and the Hawkesbury and as far west as Orange.

Throughout my career and time volunteering with community organisations, I have worked with families, individuals and communities to help them take responsibility and find practical solutions to the situations they face.

My husband, Jim, and I were married in 1988 in Kurrajong, and we bought our first home in Bligh Park. We are the proud parents of our two children, Joshua and Hannah.

Protecting our way of life has been my priority since being elected to parliament in 2004. By developing and delivering programmes that provide opportunities for our young people, I believe we can secure an even brighter future for our local community.
